Gov. Hochul Is 'Reviewing Her Options' After Adams Indictment

Calling it "an extraordinarily difficult day for New York City," Governor Hochul is speaking out about Mayor Adams facing a five count federal indictment.

"While I review my options and obligations as the Governor of New York, I expect the Mayor to take the next few days to review the situation and find an appropriate path forward to ensure the people of New York City are being well-served by their leaders," Hochul said in a statement.

Adams is accused by the U.S. Attorney's office of accepting lavish gifts and illegal campaign contributions from the government of Turkey. He has promised to keep fighting and leading New York City, even as many have called for his resignation. Hochul has the authority to remove the mayor from office, but has not said whether she'd be willing to take such an extraordinary step.

"We must give New Yorkers confidence that there is steady, responsible leadership at every level of government," Hochul said.
