In area high school football games played Thursday evening, the Currituck County High School Knights held off the Camden County Bruins to win the Northeastern Coastal Conference game, 21-20.

Camden missed an extra point that would have tied the score with 4 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to win the Byrd Bowl played in Camden. The Bruins fell to 1-4 and 1-1 in the NCC while Currituck improved to 2-3 and 2-0 in the conference.

In other NCC play Thursday evening, the Pasquotank County High School Panthers avenged last season’s 66-0 road loss to Hertford County, defeating the Bears 20-7 at home.

The Panthers improved to 2-3 and 1-1 in the NCC while Hertford fell to 1-4 and 0-2 in the NCC.

The Perquimans County Pirates are idle this week.

The teams were playing Thursday night instead of Friday due to inclement weather expected Friday evening.
