Each week, Consequence rings in New Music Friday by highlighting new albums to stream. We’ve made it to fall, and we’ve got lots of new music to last the rest of the season.

This week’s highlights feature a surprise album drop from Lady Gaga, a posthumous release by the revolutionary SOPHIE, and fresh music from rising artists like Merce Lemon, Liam Benzvi, and CoSign’s MICHELLE. Plus, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian embarks on a new solo venture, while bluegrass phenom Billy Strings reveals an exciting new project.

Here are 12 new albums to stream today.

Alan Sparhawk (of Low) – White Roses, My God

Alan Sparkhawk of Low has returned with a new album for the first time since his long-time creative partner and spouse Mimi Parker tragically passed away in 2022. White Roses, My God marks Sparhawk’s first official solo album and finds the veteran songwriter exploring new sonic spaces, incorporating skittering hip-hop beats and off-kilter production.

    Lady Gaga — Harlequin

The project the Mother Monster is classifying as “LG6.5” (ahead of a full-length seventh album on the horizon) is a concept album inspired by the Joker and Harley Quinn. We are just days away from the release of Joker: Folie à Deux , where Gaga took on the role of Harley, and it’s been a few years since we got any collection of original music from her. The mix of covers of jazz standards and originals form what she’s describing as a concept album. Following “ Die with a Smile ” with Bruno Mars, a whole new set of tunes from Gaga is a welcome gift.

Merce Lemon – Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild

The Up-and-coming Pittsburgh songwriter has released Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild , a new collection of vulnerable, sweetly sung folk rock songs that are of the best of Lemon’s increasingly impressive catalog. While the excellent “Will You Do Me A Kindness,” which we named one of the best songs of 2024 so far , didn’t make the tracklist, the tunes that did are every bit as compelling.

Rahim C Redcar keeps his prolific streak going with Hopecore, his third album in three years. He claims the album is “ made with tears, blood, and mostly an unwavering faith in the raw, pure expression of the soul,” so it’s certainly a cathartic effort from the French singer and songwriter.
