Chamber Executive Director Janie Parish said when she joined the organization 12 years ago, it was held as a luncheon and there were only three categories.“We decided to make it a more elegant event to honor our businesses and our people,” she said. “There have been so many changes during these last 12 years. The categories have stayed the same the last couple of years, but before that, it was a lot of individual awards.”Parish said the award ceremony eventually became a single individual award known as Business Entrepreneur of the Year, and several awards for whole businesses and nonprofits.The awards and winners of the 43rd annual Rosie Awards include:<ul><li>Business Entrepreneur of the Year — Bill Alexander, of AK Construction</li><li>Outstanding New Business of the Year — Cambria’s Bistro</li><li>Legacy Award — Ann’s Pastry Shop</li><li>Community Beautification of the Year — Corwin and Company</li><li>Outstanding Nonprofit Organization of the Year — Grizzly Academy</li><li>Outstanding Business of the Year, 25 employees or less — A-1 Sports Sales</li><li>Outstanding Business of the Year, 25-plus employees — Clampco Products</li><li>Standing Ovation Award — Joshua Baughman, of Van’s Auto Service &amp; Tire Pros</li></ul>“Every community needs good businesses,” Parish said. “In Wadsworth, we are very blessed to have excellent businesses.
