General Hospital: John Pretends to Die to Trick Sonny

We couldn't have imagined how much drama John would bring to the General Hospital canvas when he returned.

It turned out he was the reason Jason was gone for two years, he almost sent Carly to prison on racketeering charges, he got under Anna's skin, he weaponized Ava against Sonny, and he disgustingly arrested Kristina for a crime she didn't commit while she was grieving the death of her child.

Let us simply say that in his final weeks at Port Charles, he made a lot of enemies.

Then came the fatal night when Sonny killed John on the Quatermaine estate. Viewers watched Sonny murder him, and Michael rushes to hide his father's tracks.

Will the FBI Agent Return from the Grave?

However, just as he did in life, John is causing a variety of issues in death.

For starters, Carly now has to wander around town claiming she's rekindling her relationship with Sonny, which couldn't be further from the truth.

However, because she gave him an alibi the night of the murder, implying that they had a night of passion, the ex-partners must stage a phony relationship for the sake of appearances.

Alexis has found herself the primary suspect in John's murder.

While many people in town assume Sonny is the guilty party, the evidence leads to the lawyer, and Sonny and Michael are attempting to find a method to liberate Alexis from police custody without changing the murder investigation to Sonny's or Kristina's side.

Kristina, Molly, and Sam are extremely concerned about Alexis' situation. The sisters are feverishly seeking to establish their mother's innocence.

Sam has even promised to swim into the turbulent seas where Alexis dropped Sonny's unused gun, in the hopes that the gun will show Alexis did not kill anybody.

Given the threat that has been played up about Sam falling into the ocean, we feel that will result in Sam's death as Monaco's term on the program ends.

Did John Frame Sonny by Faking His Death?

However, this is currently more of a theory. Having said that, the John situation appears to be spinning out of hand.

Although we earlier advocated using a fallen man to blame the murder in order to keep the primary actors in Port Charles out of jail, we are beginning to feel that there is a better approach here.

John needs to return. Yes, spectators witnessed Sonny killing him in cold blood. But what if John didn't truly die?

What if the FBI agent met with Sonny that night with the purpose of pushing him to shoot him so that authorities could build a strong case against the kingpin, perhaps leading to his imprisonment?

In this scenario, John was aware that Sonny would shoot him, but he was willing to fake his death in order to get Sonny charged with murder.
