Federal officials have begun the process of deporting a Mexican national charged in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Dormont over the weekend.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement filed a sworn affidavit Thursday charging Saul Rivera-Ramirez with illegal entry into the country.

Allegheny County Police charged Rivera-Ramirez with homicide by vehicle, accident involving death by an unlicensed driver and driving without a license killing Christian Sluka, of Dormont.

Rivera-Ramirez was deported from the U.S. in 2019 for illegal entry after crossing the southern border near Naco, Arizona.

The federal criminal complaint does not detail how Rivera-Ramirez reentered the U.S. and made his way to the Pittsburgh area.

He faces an Oct. 4 preliminary hearing. A court date on the federal charges was not available.
