(WICS) — The fifth annual Chatham Paws-a-Palooza / Kite Up the Park festival is taking place this weekend.The event is taking from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Chatham Community Park, located at 711 S Park Ave, Chatham, IL 62629. Admission is just $5 with ages 14 and under admitted for FREE.Combining two festivals into one large event, Paws-a-Palooza / Kite Up the Park is a family/pet friendly festival for the Chatham Community Dog Park while also promoting pet adoptions and responsible pet ownership.There will be live music from Dave Littrell and the Travis Ried Band, live demonstrations from the World Champion St. Louis Disc Dog Team, professional stunt kite demo by the Chicago Kite Company, and a special appearance by Chatham Police K9 officer Dagz.There will be an adoptable dog pageant featuring dogs from 5 local shelters: APL, WILD, Benld Adopt a Pet, Sangamon County Animal Control, and Illinois Humane. There will be Kites to buy and fly. The event also features a Pet/Owner Costume Contest with prizes for the top 3 participants.
