Stephanie Ruhle Says ‘Thank You’ to Fox News for Criticizing ‘Softball’ Harris Interview: ‘As Donald Trump Taught Me, All Press Is Good Press’

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle said she’s grateful for all of the criticism she’s gotten on Fox News over her “softball interview” with Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Friday’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough said Ruhle had become a “running banner” at Fox News following her interview with Harris, one of only a handful the vice president has given since becoming the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, earning criticism from Sean Hannity, Howard Kurtz, and others.

“To Fox News, I would say thank you because as I learned from Donald Trump, all press is good press, so I am thrilled to be all over their airwaves all day long,” Ruhle said before joking she was “excited” about Melania Trump’s new memoir following the former first lady’s appearance on Fox News to promote her book.

Ruhle called it “mind boggling” that former President Donald Trump typically polls better with voters when it comes to the economy. Ruhle’s sit-down with Harris focused on that issue.

“We sat down for 25 minutes and we talked about one single topic: the economy. It is the number one issue for voters. If Donald Trump would like to sit down and have that same conversation, I’m ready for you. I think it’s hugely important and it’s a vulnerability for both candidates,” she said.

Ruhle defended accusations Harris has been too generic in her policy proposals and the few answers she gives to the press, saying she has an 80-page proposal people can turn to. The MSNBC host also defended Harris giving non-answers though as she chalked it up as just what politicians do.

“Many people feel like she’s speaking in platitudes, that she’s speaking about an economic vision and she’s not giving details. She’s got an 80-paged detailed policy proposal! And do I think she answers every single question and gives people exactly what they want? She doesn’t. You know why? Because she’s a politician and none of them do. They all speak in platitudes,” she said.

Ruhle’s interview with Harris was announced following the MSNBC host making an appearance on Real Time where she defended Harris avoiding “substantive answers.” Trump took to Truth Social to personally insult Ruhle after the appearance and the Harris interview was announced.
