A Camden County man released from prison in October is back in jail after an license plate reader led to a loaded handgun.

David Ringgold, 37, of Pennsauken, set off an alert when he entered the city at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 19, letting police know he had outstanding warrants, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

Officers Shalonn Black and Jovahn Perez stopped Ringgold around Vermont and Atlantic avenues, where he tried to give police false information, according to the charges.

    He was arrested.

A search of the vehicle led to a loaded handgun, Fair said.

It was also determined that his passenger gave police false information. Amanda Hoss, 37, of Camden, is now wanted.

Both are charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large-capacity magazine, certain person not to possess a weapon, and hindering apprehension.

Ringgold was transferred from the Atlantic County Justice Facility to Burlington County, according to jail records.

The license plate readers also notified police that a stolen vehicle entered the city Wednesday morning, police said.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Union earlier that day.

Officers Janicquea Harold, La’Quay Green and Bria Hill stopped the vehicle at the base of the Atlantic City Expressway, Fair said.

Tyrell Ellis, 27, of Mays Landing, was charged with receiving stolen property and released on a summons.

I wonder if the police car is a newer police car. recently seen an AC police car that was 5 years old. I can tell by the sticker- for instance the sticker on the windshield says 2025 on it that means the car needs inspection for emissions in 5 years so the care was made in 2020. Normally cities and towns replace their cars every 1 or 2 years because of the way they beaten. A newer car actually has a camera in the top lights that reads license plates and identifies it as stolen.I find police cars fascinating though I'm not one myself. I just like reading about them.Ford recently came out with a car called the Intercepter. It has 7 cameras in it including the license plate reader. Among the many features in it includes the shotgun mount when you remove the shotgun in the car it notifies the police station.End of lesson 1 of police cars 101. BTW, if you see an Crown Victoria police car it's almost an antique. They stopped making them in 2008.

Some states have the 3 strike rule, and this is the type of person that should stay in prison forever! Some people just can't get right. Just got out of prison in October and you have a gun that you probably aren't even allowed to have, and on top of that you are in a stolen car. Laws apply to everyone
