This story has been updated to include new information.

One person is in custody and being charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated assault following a SWAT callout stemming from a domestic disturbance early Friday in southwest Lubbock.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, officers were called out around 8:26 a.m. for a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 6600 block of Chicago Avenue.

Lt. Brady Cross, public information officer for LPD, said the call came from a family member who was made aware of two other family members causing a disturbance in the residence.

"When our officers responded, they encountered a little bit different situation," Cross said. "They encountered a man and a woman near the front door, and when trying to make contact with them, the male half slammed the door in our officer's face and locked it, and the female had began to yell and scream for help."

A SWAT callout was initiated at 9:41 a.m.

Initial reports indicated there was a gun in the residence; however, police were not able to confirm this as of 11:44 a.m. Friday.

"There's no indication that he was armed with a gun, but we do know that he did use a knife to threaten the female inside the home," Cross said. "She was able to come out peacefully and on her own."

Cross said that is when the decision was made to deploy tear gas where the male — identified as 44-year-old Davy Stanford — was arrested without further incident.

The hour-long SWAT callout resulted in no injuries were reported, and Standford has been taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
