On Thursday, a jury trial was scheduled for December 10, 2024. The accident happened August 5 just west of the Business Loop 70 exit on I-70. Court documents state Montejo was speeding when he tried to move into the driving lane and struck a car. The impact caused Montejo’s semi to jump the concrete barrier where it overturned into the oncoming lanes of traffic. Montejo’s semi then collided with numerous vehicles, including a U-Haul driven by Cindy Helms, 54, of Rockwood, Tennessee. Both Helms and her passenger, Melvina Colin, 84, of Broomfield, Colorado, died as a result of their injuries. Another driver suffered serious injuries while Montejo was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.Montejo is also due in court for a status hearing on October 7, and for a pre-trial conference on December 2. </div></body>
