Logan Thompson is going all out to celebrate the return of the 'Screamin' Eagle' sweaters for the Washington Capitals with quite the mask for the team's third jerseys.

Thompson's new lid, painted by Dave Fried, pays tribute to the Capitals' history while incorporating some inspiration from Thompson's youth.

The mask, which is copper, blue and black in honor of the team's 1995 color scheme, features the famed Capitals Screamin' Eagle logo and Thompson's "LT" initials on the chin, and on the top are flaming skulls, which pay tribute to Thompson's favorite goalie growing up: Calgary Flames — Thompson's hometown team — star goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. The backplate features the team's Capitol dome logo, Thompson's 48 and the "Washington" word mark.

Fried also notes that he drew inspiration from artist Todd Miska, who designed Kiprusoff's masks over the course of his storied career.

    • Wednesday, Nov. 6th vs. Nashville Predators
    • Friday, Nov. 29th vs. New York Islanders

    • Saturday, Jan. 18th vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
