Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Beginning January 1st, 2025, Connecticut's minimum wage will increase.

Governor Lamont says the wage will jump from the current $15.69 per hour to $16.35 per hour.

Lamont signed the legislation in 2019.

By law, the minimum wage is required to be adjusted based on the Labor Department's calculation of the employment cost index for the twelve-month period ending on June 30 of the preceding year.

“This law that we enacted ensures that as the economy grows, the wages of low-income workers can grow with it,” Governor Lamont said.

The employment cost index rose by 4.2% in the 12 months that ended on June 30, accounting for the increase, said state Labor Commissioner Dante Bartolomeo.

to bad that increase doesn't apply to people in SSI and SSDI. The increase we get looks like 2.3% at this point starting 2025. several years there was 0% increase
