Costco Brought Back Its Fan-Favorite Whisky Advent Calendar, and Shoppers are Searching Near and Far to Find It

For a lot of people, fall is the start of pumpkin season. Starbucks whips out its fabled pumpkin spice menu, kids start carving out their favorite Halloween jack-o-lanterns and retailers everywhere become stuffed to the gills with all sorts of seasonal snacks, scents and decorations. But there’s another reason to look forward to fall and its subsequently cooler weather: bourbon and whiskey .

Costco just unveiled its 2024 Whisky Advent Calendar known as the Whisky Tour of the World , and fans everywhere have been chomping at the bit to see it pop up at their local warehouse. For those not in the know, Costco’s annual whisky advent calendar is a highly sought after offering which features 24 bottles of whiskies from 20 different countries including both whiskey and whisky options within each respective region.

This year's edition of the calendar sources spirits hailing everywhere from Kentucky and Scotland to Taiwan and India, with a retail price resting somewhere around $240 per box depending on location. That equates to about $10 per every 50-milliliter mini bottle of whiskey included.

As far as packaging goes, this box is definitely a crowd pleaser that can exist as an easy conversation starter while hosting friends in your home. The packaging is designed to resemble a small encyclopedia collection, with four of the books representing a different region and containing six bottles of whisky inside. Each book is titled Anticipation, Exploration, Adventure and Triumph , with the fifth book titled Reflection and containing two low-ball whiskey glasses.

Some of the gems that can be found inside of this year's calendar include Stauning Danish Whisky, Mc’Nean Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Ballykeefe Single Malt Irish Whiskey, Indri Single Malt Indian Whisky, Helsinki Whiskey Rye Malt and Hatozaki Finest Whisky.

Those interested in picking up this extremely extensive whiskey calendar should note that the package will only be sold in states that allow for the sale of liquor at Costco. Residents of Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin and Texas will unfortunately feel a bit left out. Pro tip: if you wait till December, you might actually be able to pick this calendar up when the boxes go on sale.
