Luke Getsy Doesn't Think Raiders Forced Run Game in Week 3

The Las Vegas Raiders lost in pretty embarrassing fashion in Week 3, and the biggest reason for that was the fact that their offense struggled mightily. Despite facing one of the worst defenses in the league, the Raiders just could not get anything going.

Their opponent, the Carolina Panthers , were able to shut down every aspect of offense throughout the game, despite being gashed by their first two opponents to start the season.

As is the same with any offense having struggles, the fan base was pretty unhappy with their team's offensive coordinator, which in this case is Luke Getsy. Most of those fans think Getsy tried too hard to establish the run game.

In a press conference on Thursday, Getsy claimed that he doesn't believe that to be true.

Now, it's kind of hard to blame the Raiders for their game plan coming into last Sunday. The Panthers were awful against the run in their first two games, and conversely, the Raiders were desperate to establish their own ground game. Before the affair, head coach Antonio Pierce even commented about his desire to get his running back, Zamir White, some more touches.

Where Getsy can be blamed is his inability to adapt. His game plan seemed to consist of a run on first down, another run on second and long, and then a pass on third down. That got very repetitive very quickly, and the criticism that Getsy tried to force a ground game that clearly wasn't working is hard to argue against.

The Raiders take on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, and will look to rush for over 50 yards for the first time during the 2024 season.
