A return from injury is on the horizon for this Jacksonville Jaguars veteran offensive weapon

Help is on the way for the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense.

Coach Doug Pederson stated on Friday that tight end Evan Engram isn't quite ready to return for Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans, but will likely return in Week 5 when Jacksonville takes on the Indianapolis Colts.

Engram sustained a hamstring injury during pregame warmups in Week 2 just before kickoff against the Cleveland Browns. It was a significant blow to the Jaguars' offense, which has struggled mightily this season. Jacksonville ranks in the bottom third of the NFL in total yards, scoring and passing yards.

The Jags are still in search for their first victory of the season and are in serious jeopardy of the 2024 season slipping away from them. They hit rock bottom last week after getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills by a score of 47-10. The Bills scored on eight of their 10 possessions, with their first five all resulting in touchdowns.

The good news for the Jaguars is that they're only a couple of plays away from being 2-1 after a close losses in Weeks 1 and 2. Untimely turnovers and quarterback Trevor Lawrence being out of synch have really hindered the Jacksonville offense.

The return of Engram will definitely give Lawrence a boost. The two have great chemistry and Engram has been Lawrence's ultimate security blanket. After an inconsistent beginning to his career with the New York Giants, Engram has established himself as one of the better tight ends in the league in Jacksonville.

Engram had a career year in 2023, leading all tight ends in receptions with 114. along with 963 yards and four touchdowns. If he can pick up where he left off last season once he returns, it could be what gets Lawrence back in rhythm and open up the rest of the Jags' passing game.
