SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman was bitten by a coyote on Tuesday at a trail in Southington, Connecticut, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

The incident happened on Metacomet Trail. DEEP said that coyotes rarely display aggression towards humans, and that this is a highly unusual occurrence.

I was walking my dog and a cemetery and out came a coyote and Broad, daylight my dog had behind me. I carry a pocket knife and pepper spray for her, not me, and I stared that freaking coyote in the eyes and he backed down because he saw that look at my eyes and he would’ve gotten it if he went near my dog.
