    Richmond's annual Leaf Collection Program begins soon

    Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The City of Richmond is starting its annual Leaf Collection Program on Monday, Oct. 7. Residents have several options to choose from.

    Unlimited bag collection , where bagged leaves will be collected based on trash collection days. Biodegradable bags are preferred, and collection days are based on the four sectors of the city:

    Sector 1 : Wednesday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Nov. 6 and Nov. 20
    Sector 2 : Thursday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Nov. 21 and Dec. 1
    Sector 3 : Monday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Dec. 3 and Dec. 18
    Sector 4 : Tuesday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Dec. 19 and Dec. 31.

    There’s also a do-it-yourself option , where residents can drop off loose leaves or put them in biodegradable bags at the following locations:

    • East Richmond Road Convenience Center at 3800 East Richmond Road
    • Maury Street Leaf Drop-off at 2900 Maury Street
    • Transfer station at 3506 North Hopkins Road

    Lastly, there is a vacuum service option available on request, which is not free. The service is available beginning on Monday, Nov. 4 and the cost is $30 per request, with the payment due prior to service.
