<body><div><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3dqKlf_0vm6qI4l00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3dqKlf_0vm6qI4l00" width="1280" height="640" ></figure>Portales, NM – September 25, 2024- ENMU’s Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking is proud to present a theatre performance of “The Thanksgiving Play,” a satirical comedy written by Larissa FastHorse.The play centers around a group of four well-meaning but culturally insensitive white theater artists who attempt to create a politically correct elementary school play about the first Thanksgiving while struggling with their own biases and the lack of Native representation.“We want to invite everyone to join us during the 90th anniversary homecoming weekend here at ENMU,” said Leonard Madrid, director of the production. “Even though the play covers serious information, it manages to be hilarious all the way through.”In 2018, “The Thanksgiving Play” premiered at the Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland, Oregon. It then debuted off-Broadway at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in 2018. In 2023, “The Thanksgiving Play” premiered on Broadway at the Hayes Theater.The Thanksgiving Play will host live performances in ENMU’s Studio Theatre at the University Theatre Center (UTC) from Thursday, October 3 to Saturday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. A matinee performance will be on Sunday, October 6, at 2:00 p.m. General admission tickets are only $10, while senior citizens and active-duty military tickets are only $7.
