Jauan Jennings had perfect answer when asked if he hopes to be more involved in 49ers' offense after big game against Rams

Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a perfect answer on Thursday when asked if he hopes to be more involved in the San Francisco 49ers' offense after his big game against the Los Angeles Rams this past weekend.

Jennings, a seventh round pick by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft, caught 11 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns in San Francisco's 27-24 loss to the Rams.

"Man, I don't know, I'm not a coach, I'm a player," said Jennings. "So I just try to make the plays when they come my way."

There isn't a better answer that Jennings could've had to that question. The former Vol is willing to do whatever is asked of him -- he just wants to win. There's no pouting if he doesn't get the ball. And there's no trash talking if he has a huge game and the 49ers lose.

Jennings would be happier to catch to one pass for six yards instead of 10 catches for 100 yards if it means that his team gets the win. That's always been his mentality, dating back to his time in high school.

Every team needs a player like Jennings. The way he plays the game is infectious. It inspires others to play with more effort and grit. And as a result, wins usually follow.

Jennings isn't going to have big games every week -- that's not what his role always calls for. But he showed on Sunday against the Rams that he can step up and be "the guy" when needed.
