The Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football felt bittersweet for all kinds of reasons, most of which had to do with how the Cowboys played.

But the biggest reason of all was the sight of Micah Parsons being carted off the field after suffering an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter. At that point, the scoreboard which read 20-15, Cowboys, did very little to ease the season concerns that have been growing in the hearts of fans after a relatively underwhelming start to the season.

Friday's update makes the win over the Giants feel much better, however, as the Cowboys superstar defender has been confirmed to have avoided any major injury after having an MRI.

According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network , Parsons has a high-ankle sprain that will likely cause him to miss playing time but his injury is far from being long-term. Per Rapoport, Parsons' status is yet to be determined.

After the game, Parsons revealed X-rays were negative and even suggested he'd try to play in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. This led to suspicions that a worst case scenario was avoided, which should be of major relief for Cowboys fans, which have since been confirmed.

Now granted, it's far from "great" news. But given the possibilities, it's hard to not feel better about things following Thursday night.

The Cowboys have a road trip to Pittsburgh and will host the Detroit Lions before a bye week, which could influence their approach for a potential timetable to return for their best defensive player.
