ICON Water Trails organized a Demonstration Day at the Lew Clarkson Water Trail access point on Thursday, September 26th. The event aimed to showcase various water trail cleaning methods and demonstrate armoring techniques with downed logs and brush. These techniques illustrate what can be done without requiring permission from the Iowa DNR and with minimal water disturbance. The armoring techniques involve using materials such as downed tree brush that is about to fall into the creek to protect the bank from further erosion. This process helps prevent erosion and creates vegetation and fish habitat.
