Report: Kim Richards Cut Off by Family After Being Placed on Psych Hold, Fought With Sister Kyle

Addiction is a terrible disease that affects so many families. As we know, former child star Kim Richards has suffered for years while trying to get better, with her family often by her side. Sadly, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was placed under psych hold earlier this month (September 2024). Now, the Richards family is practicing tough love and has reportedly totally shut her out. Here’s what we know…

The Richards family has cut off all contact with Kim after she was placed on psych hold in early September

TMZ reports that in early September, Kim was behaving incoherently at an LA Hilton Hotel while with her sister Kyle Richards . Police were called and asked Kim to leave, but she refused. That’s when Kim was placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Then on the night of September 25, Kyle tried to remove Kim from an LA area house that Kyle owns. Kyle had previously let Kim live in the house, but Kim had moved out some time ago.

When Kim showed up again, Kyle told law enforcement officers that she didn’t want her sister in the house. In hopes that she would hit rock bottom and get sober again, the family has cut off all contact. They’re supposedly hoping that Kim will be motivated to help herself when she has nowhere else to turn.

Unfortunately, officers explained to Kyle that they were not able to remove Kim from the house, as it was a civil matter. Kyle will have to file an eviction action while Kim remains in her home.

Law enforcement officers told TMZ that when they came to the house, Kyle told them that Kim’s addiction is at that point where they’re worried about her life.

Viewers of RHOBH first learned of Kim’s problems with alcohol during the Season 1 finale. Kyle and Kim got into a huge fight in the back of a limo. Kyle let the secret slip, shouting, “We don’t talk about the fact that you’re an alcoholic!” This came after Kim accused Kyle and her husband Mauricio of stealing her house.
