Over 200,000 Without Power in Virginia

BLACKSBURG, VA - Over 200,000 people are without power in Virginia.

The remnants of Helene are currently moving through southern Virginia which are bringing heavy rain and winds.

Currently, 214,759 customers are without power in Virginia.

The most affected areas are in southern Virginia from Wise County east to Bedford County.

Appalachian Power is expecting most outages in Virginia to be restored by Sunday but some harder hit areas may see restoration beyond Sunday.

More power outages may be reported in Virginia as wind and rain is expected through the afternoon on Friday.
