<body><div><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=2pQmKE_0vmHkwiD00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2pQmKE_0vmHkwiD00" width="675" height="450" ><h2>Story Links</h2><p>DUPONT, Wash. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team shot a pair of sub-par rounds on Thursday (Sept. 26) to take a four-stroke lead at the Bishop Invitational and hosted by Saint Martin's at The Home Course.</p><p>The Mavericks opened the day with a 4-under, 284 in their first round and followed it up with a 2-under, 286 for a two-round total of 570. They hold a four-stroke lead over both Cal State East Bay and Hawaii-Hilo.</p><p>Colorado Mesa was the only team to have two sub-par rounds while four teams were under par in the first round. The Mavericks along with CSU Pueblo and Northwest Nazarene were all under 288 in the second round.</p><p>Senior Cole Beyer is in a tie for the individual medalist honors after firing a first round 67 and followed it up with a 1-under, 71 for a 138. Beyer led the tournament after the first round where he was bogey free and added five birdies and backed it up with a second round that saw two bogeys and three birdies.</p><p>Beyer is tied with Hawaii-Hilo's Dylan Bercan atop the leaderboard.</p><p>Beyer has some company at the top of the leaderboard as freshman Leo Lavalle is just one stroke behind him at 5-under, 139. Lavalle had 10 birdies across his two rounds but played consistent enough to shoot a 69 in round one and a 70 in round two.</p><p>Luke Wagstaff scored for the Mavericks in each round and had the low score on the team in round two with a 4-under, 68.</p><p>Timmy Cavarno and Baptiste Laborde each scored in one of the two rounds.</p><p>The Mavericks are scheduled to tee-off in tomorrow's final round at 9am mountain.</p></div></body>
