THE frontrunners to replace Hoda Kotb as co-anchor of Today are quickly revealing themselves and are "lined up outside the executive producer's office," an insider has revealed.
Top talent at Today was fighting for a chance at Hoda's seat as soon as the beloved host sent out an email to the staff announcing her upcoming departure before announcing it on air, the source said.
"Now that she's on her way out, there is a power vacuum already," the insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun
"She put out the email that she was quitting before she went on air and before the show even ended four people were waiting outside the EP's door to try and get the job."
The insider said that NBC execs would like a person of color for the spot and that right now Sheinelle Jones "is their first choice."
Meanwhile, the insider said Today Show lifestyle contributor Jill Martin is "aggressively pursuing in the 10 o'clock hour with Jenna Bush Hager."
The insider said there has been some talk of Jenna getting Hoda's Today Show chair during the morning news hours, but they believe that "Jenna doesn't really want it, and can't do real news."
