House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan called out Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for refusing to respond to requests from Ohio’s top election official for federal citizenship verification records that he said are necessary for the swing state to have a “secure voting process.”

The House Judiciary GOP posted on X that Jordan demanded information from the DHS secretary and accused Mayorkas of " stonewalling Ohio Election Integrity ."

In a letter chiding Mayorkas for what he says are four ‘"ignored" requests since July 19 for citizenship data by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican, Jordan says he now wants information about the department’s “failure to comply.”

“Given Secretary LaRose’s state and federal statutory responsibilities to guarantee that only lawfully registered citizens vote in Ohio federal elections, his request for access to DHS’s citizenship verification databases is a ‘purpose authorized by law,’ and you must grant it accordingly,” Jordan wrote in the letter.

The two-page letter went on to say that the citizenship data requested by LaRose was especially important “in light of the open-border policies of the Biden-Harris Administration .”

Jordan, an ally of former President Donald Trump who loyally defended his false 2020 election-rigging conspiracies, demanded that Mayorkas respond to three questions within two weeks pertaining to why the data has not been released.

He also wants all documents and communication among DHS and executive branch employees discussing a request from a secretary of state, including LaRose, for federal citizenship information.
