The Borough of Red Bank plans to spend more than $400,000 on new security cameras downtown. The council approved the purchase at Thursday’s meeting through the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission. The borough plans on installing the cameras near places like the White Street Parking Lot and the Red Bank Library. They say the library reached out to them for more surveillance. Residents say while they feel the area is safe, it's still a good preventative measure. The cameras won't be monitored 24/7 but the council says it will help with investigations. They plan on implementing new cameras and updating existing systems by the end of the year. "

400,000 seems like an awful lot of money for cameras. How many cameras does this pay for?
