California's Interstate 80 Construction Update: Expect Traffic Delays Along Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Motorists traveling along Interstate 80 (I-80) through Placer, Nevada, and Sierra counties are being urged to prepare for significant delays as multiple construction projects and emergency repairs continue through the fall season. According to Caltrans, drivers may experience delays of up to two hours and are encouraged to plan accordingly.

While emergency repair work is beginning to wind down, several major projects will keep lanes and ramps closed at various locations along the I-80 Sierra corridor. The following are key closures scheduled for the upcoming week:

Eastbound I-80 Construction Schedule:

• Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project (near Magra):
  Lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. between Monday, September 30 and Thursday, October 3. Additional work will take place from 10 p.m. Friday, October 4 to 8 a.m. Saturday, October 5.
• Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project (between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay):
  Lane and ramp closures will run around the clock from 6 a.m. Monday, September 30 through 10 a.m. Friday, October 4. Work will also occur from 7 p.m. Friday, October 4 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5.
• Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project (near Alta):
  Lane closures will be in place from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. from Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3. Additional closures will occur from 9 p.m. Friday, October 4 to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 5.
• Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project (between Yuba Gap and the State Route 20 junction):
  Lane closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Monday, September 30 and Thursday, October 3. Additional work will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, October 4.
• Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project (near Crystal Lake):
  Lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Monday, September 30 and Thursday, October 3, ending at 6 a.m. Friday, October 4.
• Emergency Repairs Location 3 (between Rainbow and Troy):
  Lane closures will occur from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, September 30.
• Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project (between Troy and Soda Springs):
  Lane closures are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 29. Around-the-clock work will continue from 6 a.m. Monday, September 30 through 6 a.m. Friday, October 4.
