LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A popular Las Vegas music festival will be changing locations this time around.

The Life is Beautiful festival will now attract music fans to the Plaza Hotel and Casino, near Main Street and Bonneville Avenue.

For the past 10 years, the music festival has taken place on East Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The festival organizers announced this past summer they are focusing on a two-stage event with mostly electronic artists.

“I think this is a pretty hip area, so I think everyone is excited about it,” Kirsten Scott, who lives in the downtown area said.

While businesses in the Fremont area are welcoming the change, some owners are not pleased with the re-location.

“We are on the fence, but we’re more towards not also happy about it. It brings different people. It brings a spotlight, especially with everything being right next to the building,” Alec Nunez, Owner of ‘The Parlour Coffee & Cooking’ shared.

Residents who live nearby are prepared for what the block party has to offer with no overlapping sets and cheaper tickets than years prior.

Kirsten Scott lives near Symphony Park and said that she and several of her neighbors plan on attending, whether it’s on block party grounds or viewing from their patios.

“Life is Beautiful extended complimentary tickets to those who live here. They sent out an email, kind of like a peace offering as a token of appreciation for hosting it right by the residential area,“ Scott added.

Brett Howard who lives at the Bridger Inn Hotel on Main Street said room rates have increased and doesn’t see the loud music being an issue.

“It’s not going to bother me because I am always gone during the day. The only problem I have is if I need to sleep at night, but I think it should shut down by midnight,” Howard added.

Doors opened at 5 p.m. on Friday, and performer sets last until 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Due to the extreme temperatures, organizers asked guests to take extra precautions to stay hydrated. Watering stations were offered on-site for people to fill up their water bottles.
