A GoFundMe has been set up for Anthony Klenner, battalion chief of the Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department, who recently underwent emergency surgery after a motorcycle accident on Monday.

According to the GoFundMe organized by East Valley Firefighters Member Services on behalf of Klenner's wife, Klenner had to have his right leg amputated above the knee and suffered a broken pelvis and rib. The accident occurred near U.S. 60 and Ellsworth Road.

The town of Queen Creek told The Arizona Republic in a statement that Klenner is "in good spirits and appreciates all of the support".

The Queen Creek Firefighters shared the news via Instagram on Thursday and described Klenner as a "well known firefighter, mentor and friend in the East Valley".

Klenner has been with the Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department for 16 years and was promoted in December of 2023 . At the time of the accident, it was reported that he is only four years away from retirement.

Along with his wife, Chief Klenner is being cared for by his brother and son, who are both first responders. The GoFundMe has raised over $36,000.
