Fans Heartbroken Over Abrupt End To 'Villanova Knicks' Era

Time sure does move fast. Only a few months ago, New York Knicks fans were excited to see a few old friends suit up for them. With the Mikal Bridges trade, the Knicks had four players from Villanova with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.

Unfortunately, the "Villanova Knicks" will not see a single minute on the floor together, not this season at least. The Knicks' blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns unfortunately saw DiVincenzo be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves with Julius Randle.

Fans were heartbroken to see DiVincenzo get moved. Many were looking forward to seeing the four friends play together on the same team.

"Wow Knicks formed the Nova boys of Brunson, Donte, Hart, and Mikal in the offseason only to break them apart in the offseason too 😭

"DiVincenzo getting traded away right when the nova boys got together"

Unfortunately, the NBA is a business, and the Knicks felt that KAT was going to help them reach that next level. That doesn't make it any easier for fans to swallow that pill, though.

DiVincenzo's work ethic and hustle endeared him to Knicks fans even before the "Nova Knicks" were a thing.

DiVincenzo was one of the Knicks' offseason acquisitions prior to the 2023-24 season . The former Villanova guard became a crucial piece for New York, averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 40.1% from deep and also grabbing 1.7 steals per game.

DiVincenzo earned more respect from the Knicks fanbase in the playoffs. In Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers, the guard drained a clutch triple to complete a comeback at home.

The Knicks may have gotten better with KAT, but the heartbreak of losing two beloved stars will hurt Knicks fans for a long time.
