Virginia Tech wide receiver Da'Quan Felton saw his chance for gridiron glory slip away on a last-second call reversal against No. 7 Miami in a 38-34 defeat on Friday.

While fans and media didn't all agree with the call, their sentiments for Felton's missed chance rang throughout social media afterward. Hokies wide receiver coach Fontel Mines could only console Felton afterward, as Tech Sideline's David Cunningham described .

"Feel for Da’Quan Felton," Cunningham wrote on X . "The elation of catching it, the officials informing you that you caught it, celebrating and then waiting for a review, just to find out that it was overturned. Just brutal. Fontel Mines was hugging him walking off the field."

A Florida Gators fan chimed in , saying, "there was no way that was a touchdown," but wrote, "I feel bad for Da'Quan Felton."

Another fan claimed Felton "just got cheated out of a moment that would live in his memory and the memory of Hokies fans across the nation for years to come."

Da'Quan Felton, a 2025 NFL Draft prospect, likely has better gridiron memories ahead. After four seasons at FCS school Norfolk State, Felton found a bigger role with the Hokies in 2023.

He caught 38 passes for 667 yards and eight touchdowns last season, and Felton has 10 catches for 74 yards and a touchdown so far this year. CBS Sports highlighted Felton as an "under-the-radar" player who NFL scouts are watching this fall.
