Electronics and Hazardous Waste Collection on 9/28

The Will County Land Use Department will be hosting a household electronics and hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, September 28 from 8 AM to 3 PM CT at the Hickory Creek Metra Station. You will be able to get rid of electronics that are no longer working along with hazardous waste that has been spreading noxious fumes throughout your home, which is why the air inside your home is way more polluted than the air outside.

Here is the list of all of the electronic items that are no longer working that you can bring today.

TV's (limit of 2), computers, laptops, tablets, notebooks, printers, monitors, copiers, mice, speakers, cameras, video cameras, telephones, answering machines, microwaves, radios, stereos, vacuum cleaners, toaster ovens, blenders (no glass), coffee makers (no glass), and power tools.

Here is the list of all of the hazardous waste materials that will be accepted today.

Paint/Stains (limit of 15 gallons), old medication, paint thinners, solvents, drain cleaners, cleaning products, rechargeable items, items with mercury, aerosol paints, pesticides, lawn/garden chemicals and fertilizers, used oil, used oil filters, used gasoline, antifreeze, auto and boat batteries, fluorescent light bulbs (limit 15), compact fluorescent bulbs, pool chemicals, and driveway sealer.

This event is free of charge. However, the Will County Land Use Department stopped taking appointments yesterday. Nevertheless, you will be allowed to show up after 11:15 AM if you did not set up an appointment.

The Hickory Creek Metra Station is located at 9430 Hickory Creek Drive near LaGrange Road and I-80.
