    Oklahoma Derby Day returns with races, contests, wine festival

    Oklahoma Derby Day takes place this Sunday, Sept. 29, at Remington Park. The event brings together the season’s richest race card, a hat and bowtie contest, and wine festival showcasing local wineries.

    The Remington Park’s Oklahoma Derby, Hat & Bowtie Contest and Wine Festival will start at 3 p.m. at Remington Park, 1 Remington Place.

    Thoroughbred Racing: 3 p.m. start time



    Sunday will be the richest day of the Thoroughbred racing season at Remington Park, with more than $1 million in purses being awarded over eight stakes races, including the Oklahoma Derby, a top race for many of the nation’s leading 3-year-old horses.

    Derby Day Hat & Bowtie Style Contest: 3 to 5 p.m.



    Contestants couples or individuals can show off their most creative hats or bowties in a contest featuring $3,600 in cash prizes ready to be awarded in four style divisions: Most Elegant, Most Creative, Best Tie and Best Couple. The contest is free, and participants must be 18 or older. Celebrity judges include:

    Wine Festival: 3 to 7 p.m.



    Oklahoma’s finest wineries will provide product tastings as part of the activities. Guests may purchase wine-tasting tickets for $25 and receive a souvenir wine tumbler. All proceeds from the Wine Festival will benefit Remington Park’s partner charities. Participants must be at least 21 years old and present a valid photo ID.
