CANTON ‒ A local nonprofit just got a bill of support all the way from the Big Apple.

CommQuest , a mental health and addiction services agency, received a donation of over 2,000 clothing items from Flag & Anthem , a clothing brand in New York City. The retail value is estimated at $135,000.

CommQuest CEO Elaine Russell Reolfi said her son Jonathan works as a design assistant at Flag & Anthem, and he thought the nonprofit could make use of some of samples and accessories in its design studio inventory . The items included coats, sweaters, shirts, pants, dresses, shoes and hats.

After his boss agreed, travel arrangements were made to deliver 60 boxes of clothing from New York to Massillon.

"Thank you to the team at Flag & Anthem who decided to make CommQuest the beneficiary of their design studio cleanout with thousands of beautiful clothing items," Russell Reolfi said in a prepared statement. "And, thank you to a group of volunteers, mostly children of employees, who spent days unpacking and sorting the items. We believe in teamwork with other community organizations, so Flag & Anthem’s generosity helped people across our community.”

CommQuest said the clothing will primarily be used in its residential addiction recovery programs, family homeless shelter, Friendship Center and career programs. The agency also passed along clothing to other nonprofits, including Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland, Stark Community Support Network and Project Rebuild.
