CLEMSON – Connor Salmin made his return visit to Clemson last weekend for the Tigers’ blowout win over NC State.

The 4-star wideout (Woodgrove, PA) is one of just a handful of 2026 receivers to hold an offer from Clemson. The latest visit to campus made an impression on the high school junior and it also gave him the opportunity to build upon his relationship with head coach Dabo Swinney and receivers coach Tyler Grisham..

“It was awesome,” Salmin told The Clemson Insider. “Clemson came out with very big win against NC State and that was awesome to see. It was awesome to see all the coaches. Just to get back there finally and see everyone. So had a great time.”

After the season-opening loss in which the Tigers failed to muster much on offense, Salmin has liked what he has seen the past two games from Garrett Riley’s unit.

“That’s awesome to see that offense starting to work out,” Salmin said. “We got to see it in person and see how they run their offense. Just see what coach Riley’s doing to really help the offense. It takes some time to go in and flip an offense completely around but he’s done a great job so far this season. The past two games have been awesome for them.”

Salmin made the trip with his parents, spending about 11 hours on campus. They were able to get some one-on-one time with both Swinney and Grisham and the message was not only clear, it was consistent.

After the game was over, Grisham and Salmin watched some film, giving the receiver a better idea of how he would be used in the Clemson offense.

“Coach Swinney talked to me about how he thinks he could develop me, both on and off the field,” Salmon added. “Coach Grisham, kind of the same thing. They’re on the same page talking about that. After the game, coach Grisham went over some film and he was just showing us how he thinks he could develop me as a receiver.”

The blue-chip talent already has well over 20 offers, including Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee and Ohio State. Multiple recruiting services rank him inside the Top 150 overall and he is considered one of the better players in the state of Ohio.

Some of the schools that Salmin said are recruiting him the hardest right now are Penn State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, along with Clemson. He still plans to visit South Bend for the Irish’s game against Florida State, Penn State for its game against Ohio State, and then Ohio State for the rivalry game against Michigan.

With some of the biggest program in the country pursuing him, Salmin is in no rush to make a decision. Right now, he is just hoping to have one by the start of his senior season. However, he does already know that there are a couple of things that stand out about the Tigers, including the emphasis Swinney puts on education.

“My parents agree with it,” Salmin said. “They think education from the start is super important, and graduating has been super important to me. My parents, even before football happened, it was always school first. So they really like that.”

Then there is the culture inside the program. Something else that made an impression.

“I love the coaches, and like their philosophy and their perspective on everything,” Salmin said. “I think that’s something that stands out to me and my parents too.
