Nevada GOP Face Backlash Over Votes on Prescription Drug Prices - Did Pharma Cash Sway Votes?
Amidst public outrage, Nevada Republicans’ recent legislative votes have put them at odds with the majority of their constituents, as they oppose key healthcare and reproductive rights bills.
Nevada Republicans Oppose Popular Health Legislation, Spark Controversy
The controversy doesn't end there. Republicans also uniformly voted against SJR7, a measure intended to let voters decide on enshrining the right to reproductive health care, including abortion, into the state constitution. This move has drawn sharp criticism, as it effectively prevents Nevadans from securing these rights through a direct vote.
Special Interests vs. Public Opinion: A Deepening Divide
The GOP’s votes against these bills appear to prioritize special interest groups over the needs of everyday Nevadans, a stance that could have significant electoral repercussions. AB250 aimed to lower prescription drug costs—a policy with broad public support—yet was blocked by a Republican veto. Similarly, AB383 sought to ensure continued access to contraception, an essential healthcare service that the majority of Nevadans support.
Furthermore, the defeat of AB11, which would have restricted the corporate practice of medicine and increased the availability of specialty doctors, highlights the party's reluctance to challenge powerful corporate interests. Republican opposition to SB131, which protects healthcare providers and out-of-state patients from criminalization for seeking reproductive health care, has also raised concerns among those advocating for comprehensive reproductive rights in Nevada.

More proof that Republicans care more about parasite corporations than everyday struggling Americans. Vote Blue for the middle class to stay the middle class.
