Ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield experienced a much bigger challenge.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida's Big Bend region on Thursday night, causing deep floods in several areas. The inclement weather affected Mayfield's family but his wife, Emily Mayfield, said they are safe.

In an Instagram Story, she shared that they had to evacuate before their community got "pummeled." She also described the harrowing situation as "unfathomable."

"I do not have words to accurately describe my heartbreak for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene," she wrote.

"You see this stuff on TV, but until you live through it, you can't fully grasp the terror associated with the unknowns."

Emily Mayfield empathized with all those affected by the Category 4 hurricane while also expressing gratitude that they were kept safe.

"I'm so thankful to God for protecting us and our home, and I'm praying non-stop for everyone dealing with the aftermath of the storm, surge, the damage, the loss," she added.
