It's never too early to start thinking about prospects in the 2025 NFL draft. The Kansas City Chiefs have their scouts on the road, checking out major matchups in college football through bowl season and the college football playoff.

In recent years, Brett Veach and his staff have done a stellar job in the NFL draft. His peers even rank his front office among the best in the NFL . The Chiefs always seem to be getting the most out of their picks, despite picking late in the round due to their championship-winning ways.

Who are some players that could be on the radar in Kansas City for the 2025 NFL draft? Here are four names to know as we head into Week 5 of the college football season.

    Clemson LB Barrett Carter

Nick Bolton bet on himself this season and if he keeps performing as he did in Week 3 against the Cardinals, he might price himself out of Kansas City in 2025. If that's the case, they could find themselves looking for a linebacker in next year's draft. Carter is a senior listed at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds. He's produced 180 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, nine sacks, 15 pass breakups, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries over 41 games for the Tigers, including 29 starts. His bread-and-butter at the next level will be his coverage ability.

    Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison

Cornerback is going to be a major need for the Chiefs in the coming years given that the top four cornerbacks on the team's depth chart are all set to become free agents at the same time in 2026. Morrison is listed at 6-foot and 190 pounds and has three seasons of experience playing press coverage from the wide corner position against some of the best college football has to offer. He's off to an incredible start this year with eight receptions allowed on 18 targets for just 75 yards and no touchdowns allowed through four games played per PFF. He's probably someone Kansas City would have to move up to get in the first round. The same was once said of Trent McDuffie, who the team traded up to acquire in 2022.

    UCF RB RJ Harvey

Running back might not be on the mind of many Chiefs fans, but this year's dilemma with Isiah Pacheco could prompt Kansas City to look to the draft. Harvey is listed at 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds, making him more comparable to Clyde Edwards-Helaire in stature. Among players with at least 40 snaps this season, Harvey's 7.6 yards per rushing attempt ranks fourth in the nation. He's been a big-play machine for the Knights, boasting a patient, yet explosive rushing style. He's no slouch in the passing game either, catching 43 passes for 490 yards and two touchdowns in his career. If he cleans up a few things in pass protection, he could be a three-down running back in the NFL.

    Arizona OL Jonah Savaiinaea

The Chiefs made plenty of investments in the offensive line in the 2024 NFL draft, but with Joe Thuney's 2025 cap hit and Trey Smith still unsigned, they might need to continue making additions. Savaiinaea is listed at 6-foot-5 and 336 pounds and has experience playing left tackle, right tackle, and right guard with Arizona over the past three seasons. He might find his home in the interior of the NFL because of his strength and movement ability, but realistically, he can play at least four positions. He's proven to be a great pass-protector in 2024 with just four pressures allowed through three games played this season, mostly playing left and right tackle for the Wildcats.
