Do Steelers have one of the best front offices? NFL coaches, execs weigh in

Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers have been none-too-pleased with general manager Omar Khan over the past few years. Not only did he strike out on a quarterback in Kenny Pickett, he also failed to bring in the help at wide receiver the team needed during the offseason.

While fans might be down on Khan to a certain extent, many around the league view the Steelers' front office as one of the better ones in the NFL.

We saw that in a poll by The Athletic last month that asked the opinions of agents for which franchises they think are the best run. The Steelers received a pair of votes in that poll.

Pittsburgh's front office got even more love in a recent poll by The Athletic that asked NFL executives and coaches to name the best front offices in the league.

Pittsburgh landed at No. 10 on the list, and the Steelers received one first-place vote, making them one of seven teams to garner that distinction.

“They are old-school,” one executive said. “They have been in the same defensive system forever, and they are really good at finding players who fit it.”

Khan certainly hasn't been perfect since he took over the general manager role in 2022, but the Steelers could do a lot worse. They've had a winning record in both seasons and made the playoffs in 2023 despite the quarterback problem.

Khan did his best to shore up the position this offseason with the additions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. But if neither one pans out, Pittsburgh will be back to square one in 2025.
