Paul Finebaum Names ‘One-Hit Wonder’ College Football Program

On Saturday's edition of "SEC Nation," college football analyst Paul Finebaum broke down some of the SEC games for Week 5. One of the games discussed was the matchup between the Kentucky Wildcats and Ole Miss Rebels.

Kentucky nearly upset the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 3 but lost 13-12 in Lexington. After narrowly losing to the Bulldogs, Finebaum called the Wildcats a "one-hit wonder."

Finebaum was asked about the spread for the game, which favors Ole Miss, and whether it was accurate. Based on how Kentucky has looked this season, Finebaum agreed.

"I think it is accurate for all the reasons that have been laid out here," Finebaum said. "Kentucky, to me, is a one-hit wonder. They put it together against Georgia, and they were brilliant. Everybody has made that point, but I also saw them against South Carolina and they flat-out sucked. They can't be like that."

The Wildcats last had a 10-win season in 2021. However, head coach Mark Stoops has taken the program to a bowl game each season since 2016. The only seasons Kentucky has not played in a bowl under Stoops were 2013-15.

Stoops has a record of 75-67 at Kentucky. In 2022, he passed Paul "Bear" Bryant for the most football wins in the school's history. Stoops passed the college football legend after beating the Florida Gators that season for his 61st win at Kentucky.
