Good news for one driver, bad news for another. Ty Dillon is taking over Daniel Hemric’s ride at Kaulig Racing in 2025. Hemric was given a second shot at NASCAR Cup Series racing and it is over after just one season.

This season, Daniel Hemric has recorded four top-10 finishes. He has not been spectacular but he has had moments where his car is fast and he can run near the front. Dover was perhaps his best race of the season where he finished P9.

Ty Dillon is making the move back up and will be with Kaulig Racing. Kaulig has strong ties to Richard Childress Racing.

Hemric took to social media with a statement regarding the Dillon news. It’s a tough business.

“Cup racing, the pinnacle of our sport. I will forever love and appreciate the process of what it takes to prepare, both physically and mentally to compete on Sundays. However, I will not return to Kaulig Racing in 2025 to continue that process.

“My family and I are sincerely grateful to Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice, as well as everyone at Kaulig Racing and Kaulig Companies, for welcoming me into their organization a few years ago, and giving me the rare opportunity to get back to the top level of the sport.

“The desire to win on Sundays will always burn inside of me. I’m focused and full of intention to finish the last 7 races of this season as strong as we can, while continuing to build on whatever the next chapter of this journey holds for me. Matthew 17:20.”

Ty Dillon takes over Kaulig Racing seat, changes number

Daniel Hemric first raced in the Cup Series with Richard Childress Racing in 2019. He finished 25th that season before being replaced by Tyler Reddick the following season. Once again, it’s a one and done deal.

Ty Dillon, is for a lack of a better term, failing upwards. He had two top-10 results in the Truck Series. Dawson Sutton, 18 year old driver with limited starts in the Truck Series, is now the driver of that Rackley WAR truck. His father is a co-owner of the team.

Sutton drove the truck to its first top-5 finish of the season in his first start since replacing Dillon last night at Kansas. As for Kaulig Racing, I know it is a sponsorship equation and funding is important in this sport. But this is a step back at worst and a lateral move at best.

Perhaps Ty Dillon will surprise everyone next year in the No. 10 car. The 31 is being given up by Kaulig Racing. It will be interesting to see if RCR puts the No. 31 back on the track in the future. What is your reaction to Dillon to Kaulig for 2025?
