Travis Kelce Fires Stern Message Amid His Brutal Start To 2024 Season

Travis Kelce doesn't sound bothered by all the outside noise surrounding his slow start to the 2024 NFL season.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has put up relatively paltry numbers entering Week 4, with just eight total catches for 69 yards.

A lot of it has to do with Kelce's overall lack of targets, which is in part due to defenses constantly throwing double teams at the four-time All-Pro. Kelce has been targeted just 12 times and has yet to score a touchdown this season.

But when asked by reporters Friday about his lack of red zone opportunities, Kelce was unbothered .

“I don’t care,” said Kelce, via Arrowhead Pride's Rocky Magaña.

“As long as we’re scoring touchdowns in the red zone, that’s all I care about. I’m trying to get that ball in that end zone, and I think that’s the ultimate goal— whoever’s getting targeted, we just got to come up big.”

Kelce may be trending toward a career-worst statistical year after three games, but the most important stat for the Chiefs is their 3-0 record to start the season.

The nine-time Pro Bowler emphasized that he has "all the trust" in Patrick Mahomes to make the right reads. Whether or not Kelce benefits from those reads is, in his eyes, secondary to team success.
