Oh man, you hate to hear this. We were just a week away from the inaugural Field & Stream Music Festival, which was
announced earlier this year after Eric Church and Morgan Wallen
teamed up to bring the iconic outdoors brand back to life. Along with bringing back the print magazine for the first time in four years, the music festival in Winnsboro, South Carolina was set to be a celebration of the great outdoors, offering festivalgoers not only some great music from artists like Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lainey Wilson and Riley Green, but also opportunities to enjoy nature with excursions and exhibits from some of the biggest names in hunting and fishing. But unfortunately, mother nature herself had other plans. Hurricane Helene ripped through the Carolinas and caused unprecedented devastation this weekend, with many still stranded by the flooding and awaiting rescue. It's going to take a long time to rebuild, and many are unable to even begin to assess the damage. And unfortunately, the destruction has forced the Field & Stream Music Festival to postpone their inaugural event. The festival announced today that after assessing the damage, it was determined that there was no way to move forward safely with the event:
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of the inaugural Field & Stream Music Fest, originally scheduled for October 4-6, 2024, due to Hurricane Helene. Given the state of emergency and challenging conditions on the ground, this decision has been made out of an abundance of caution. The damage from Hurricane Helene has been severe, with widespread flooding, downed trees, and blocked roads. Power is still out on site, deliveries have been delayed, and some areas of the festival grounds remain inaccessible. The production team and site engineers have advised us that it is not possible to move forward safely under these circumstances. While we are deeply disappointed, the safety of our fans, sponsors, staff, and crew remains our highest priority. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the storm. In support of recovery efforts, festival equipment like restroom trailers, generators, and food supplies will be redirected to assist FEMA and emergency services. We are heartbroken but excited to bring you an unforgettable experience next year. New dates will be announced soon. Tickets and camping will automatically roll over to the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available. The refund process will commence in the next two weeks or less, and we’ll provide further details soon. Thank you for your support and understanding. Please stay safe and keep those impacted by Hurricane Helene in your thoughts and prayers. For updates, follow us on social media or visit www.fieldandstreammusicfest.com." Obviously given the circumstances there's no doubt this is the right decision. But man, that was going to be an incredible festival so it sucks that fans are going to have to wait another year. But right now, the important thing is focusing on helping everybody who's been devastated by the storm. And next year, it'll be one hell of a party.
