    This is almost too painful for me to read. As an adult, I find it almost intolerable to experience criticism. "I'm sorry" is the default tool to disarm the situation. However, although I have to be intentional about using it, I learned that people who criticize respond better to an admission of guilt and are more likely to terminate their attack. It is not an admission of guilt. It is an efficient survival tool.
