    I-10 lanes blocked in Phoenix near 7th Street following fatal bus crash

    One person is dead and several are injured after a large commercial bus crashed Saturday morning on Interstate 10 in Phoenix.

    At 5:18 a.m. the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to the bus crash on 1-10 eastbound milepost 145 near 7th Street, according to the agency. There were 30-35 passengers with one confirmed fatality and multiple others injured, DPS said just after 9 a.m. The victim's name has not been released.

    According to the Phoenix Fire Department, one person was in extremely critical condition, while 17 others sustained minor injuries and were treated before being transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals.

    Four victims were in stable condition just before noon at Valleywise Health Medical Center near 24th and Roosevelt streets, according to Michael Murphey, spokesperson for the hospital.

    Around 9 a.m., the HOV and two other lanes were blocked, according to DPS. The crash remains an active investigation, the agency added.
