Harrisburg, Pa. — The Pa. Department of Health has issued an alert about Newmemo Children's Ring Sets due to the rings containing high levels of lead and cadmium. The 36-pack of rings exceeds the maximum federal lead content allowed in children's products and a hazardous amount of cadmium.

The recalled product was sold exclusively on Amazon from January 2022 through March 2024. The sets were sold in pink heart-shaped display cases, each containing 36 rings in varying designs. “Newmemo” and “Amazon FNSKU X0034COQMP” are written under the barcode that is attached on the underside of the case.

Amazon and Newmemo are attempting to contact the approximately 2,200 customers who purchased the product. For more information about the recall, including instructions on how to get a refund, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission's page on the recall .

“Lead and cadmium can be very harmful if ingested, especially for a young child,” said Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen. “Children’s products with excessive levels of both metals can lead to severe health risks. We want to get the message out to protect and prevent potential harm to children. Parents and caregivers should dispose of any rings and packaging of the set. Lead exposure, even at low levels, can affect brain development, lead to cognitive impairment, learning disability, and behavior issues in children.”

Parents or guardians who have purchased the product should have children tested for lead or cadmium exposure according to the CDC.

The Department of Health maintains a toll-free lead information hotline (1-800-440-LEAD) to provide information about lead poisoning prevention, testing, follow-up, and local resources.
