Hugh Freeze Takes Shot At Paul Finebaum During Appearance On 'SEC Nation'

Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze took a shot at ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum during Freeze's "SEC Nation" appearance on Saturday ahead of their 3:30 p.m. ET game vs. the No. 21 ranked Oklahoma Sooners.

Auburn looked to take a step forward in 2024 and build on its 6-7 record just a year ago. However, with a 2-2 start to this year's college football season, it appears not much has changed after losses to Cal and Arkansas.

Following the Tigers' 24-14 loss to Arkansas in Week 4, Freeze addressed the play of his two quarterbacks, Payton Thorne and Hank Brown. He openly expressed his frustration, saying he needs to 'find a guy that won't throw it to the other team.'

"I know that there's people open, and I know that we're running the football," Freeze said . "We've got to find a guy that won't throw it to the other team, and we've got to find running backs that hold on to it."

Freeze would then face backlash on social media for publicly addressing his team's quarterback play.

On Saturday’s edition of "SEC Nation," Finebaum asked Freeze how he blocks out the outside noise to prevent it from affecting his team.

Freeze responded by taking a shot at Finebaum's "The Paul Finebaum Show," which resulted in laughter from the rest of the "SEC Nation" crew.

"Well, I got off all social media, and I don't watch the Finebaum show anymore," he said.

Freeze then admitted he was joking.

"I'm just playing," he added. "My youngest daughter, Madison, she's like me. She's got the fire. She said, we love Paul, but tell him to go kick rocks."

Auburn aims to go above .500 on Saturday when they face Oklahoma.
