The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were the topic of discussion after losing to Northern Illinois as the No. 5 team in the country, 16-14, in Week 2 of the college football season.

Fast forward to Saturday, Week 5, and another massive upset happened in college football.

The Ole Miss Rebels made history in 2023 after their first 11-win season after beating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Peach Bowl. No. 6 Ole Miss made history again on Saturday after losing to the Kentucky Wildcats, 20-17, in Oxford.

It was the first time Kentucky won a game in Oxford since 1978. Ole Miss went into the game as a 15.5-point favorite by ESPN .

Ole Miss got off to a slow start in the first half. The Rebels scored on their opening drive but could not find the end zone for the rest of the half.

Kentucky scored in the dying seconds of the second quarter to go into halftime, leading 10-7. The teams traded field goals in the third quarter. Ole Miss managed to get into the red zone, but wide receiver Tre Harris fumbled, and Kentucky recovered to keep the Rebels from scoring.

Jaxson Dart eventually threw a touchdown pass to Harris on fourth down near midfield to make it a 17-13 Ole Miss lead. The Kentucky defense then locked down Ole Miss in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats eventually found the end zone with under three minutes left in the game, thanks to a two-yard touchdown run from Josh Kattus to make it 20-17.

Ole Miss' offense crossed midfield one time during the final quarter. The Rebels attempted a game-tying field goal with under one minute to go, and it went wide left to secure a 20-17 win for Kentucky.

Neither Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff nor Dart turned the ball over. What hurt Ole Miss was its inability to finish drives with touchdowns.

Head coach Mark Stoops also earned a top-10 win last season. Kentucky beat the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals to cap the regular season and win the Governor's Cup.

After the win, Kentucky moves to 3-2, while Ole Miss drops its first game of the season to move to 4-1.
